That image is just an example of the types of pieces I would recommend for a dorm room for additional storage; the image is not of my own room. I do know, however, that multiple retailers sell those type of “over-the-bed” storage solutions, especially with the explosion of dorm room decorating going on in recent years. As for stability, I’d rely on the reviews. It’s not a traditional bookcase, although with the right know how I’m guessing you could hack an existing one to fit. Hope that helps!

Did you use a regular bookcase over the bed? If so what did you do with the bottom shelves? Is it stable?
